Staffordshire Cup stays in Penn for fourth year in succession The first four ends concluded with two winners apiece however it was a brilliant 21-10 victory by Nick Newey that gave Woodfield an 11 shot lead and the impetus they needed. It was not the expected close final the neutral had expected but Woodfield join Wednesfield and Cheslyn Hay as winners of four consecutive titles and with their blend of youth and experience they will be strong favourites next season to equal Molineux’s best in the 1930’s of five consecutive titles. The trimuphant Woodfield Social team face the camera. Back row L to R C.Fellows, D.Wale, C.Halford, A.Brettle, N.Newey, P.Butcher, A.Aldridge, P.Morris, D.Smith. This is the first time a team has won the Staffordshire Challenge Cup four years in succession since 1943 and six members of the victorious side-Jones, Nick Newey, Pittaway, Aldridge, Marsh and Wale have played in all four wining sides.
